A Kid’s View – A Trip Within A Trip
TRAVELLING THE WHITSUNDAYS
on the Summertime
Besides visiting Airlie Beach, we went on a boat called Summertime to travel around the Whitsundays. The Summertime itself was very nice and the crew were kind. One of the crew was another 10-year-old boy who we got to know really well. On the way up I and my sister were very tired so we lay down on the pillows and rested. About halfway to Whitehaven beach, I got seasick while eating a cookie. Finally, we arrived at Whitehaven beach. Wow! I have never seen a beach that beautiful before!
Me and the other kids caught some crabs and stuck them in crab jail and had some fun with them. We also made little sandmen.
We had to wear stinger suits or wetsuits because it was the end of the stinger season and there might have been some box or Irukandji jellyfish.
On the way back me and my sister got some soft drink to help our sea sickness. And we ate some cookies. Then we arrived at our dock area for the night. We played chess and then it was time for dinner. After dinner, the crew pulled out a game with ropes and we had to figure out how to get untangled. Me and the other boy figured it out with the help of the captain.
In the morning, we set out on a kayak trip. What an adventure! Halfway through a storm came and me and my mum got stuck, so the crew had to come get us on the motor boat. After that adventure, we went snorkelling. It was very nice. We saw coral, angel fish and other fish. I went in the jacuzzi after I was done snorkelling. Then it was lunch. After lunch we drove straight home. I will always remember that amazing trip on the Summertime!
