Lightning Ridge – what a cool place! Where to even start? We certainly learned a lot about black opals…
Month: March 2021
The first month (and a bit) of our trip has been biblical. Not only is there a global pandemic, but we’ve experienced a locust plague, a mouse plague, frogs, and then floods…
We spent 2 weeks in Dubbo, our second spot. I had heard a lot about Dubbo over the years and that it was a great place to take the kids. I’ve been meaning to go for ages, so this was our chance!
On the first full day of our trip, we decided to do a nice, relaxing walk in the Blue Mountains. We drove to Katoomba and started by seeing the Three Sisters at Echo Point.
Finally, we finished all the stuff we needed to get done (see And We’re Off) and we left for Lithgow. We chose Lithgow because it seemed like a good central point between the Blue Mountains and some of the regional towns we wanted to visit.
It isn’t the trip around Europe and the US that we originally planned, but after 6 months of planning, purchasing (a lot), weighing (a lot), packing, and a hip surgery, we were finally able to pull it all together and depart on 19th February 2021.
