A Kid’s View: Jaisalmer Desert
For the first two nights in Jaisalmer, we slept under the stars in the desert at a little village called Mala Ki Dhani. We stayed at an AirBNB and our host, Om, was very nice! His wife provided us with delicious food and we played with the kids. Om and his family even gave us gifts! We slept outside on stretchers which was good for the first night, but the second night there was a dust storm, so we moved inside a hut at 2 am to get some shelter!
While we were there, they also offered to do Henna for us. Me, K and M all got some done.
In the village they also had many goats.
During our stay there, we went on a camel safari. We each rode a camel for an hour through the desert to some sand dunes. It was super fun, even though my inner thighs were killing me after a while. Once we got to the sand dunes, we explored for a while and then we ate a delicious meal prepared by our guides and Om. We had dal with rice, chapati (roti) and vegetables. After dinner we packed up and drove home. It was that night, when we were all tired, that the sandstorm happened. We were very tired the next day.
Overall I loved our stay at Mala Ki Dhani and would totally go back! Also, it was very funny to watch M get off the camel! Unfortunately I couldn’t find the photo, but let’s just say she got a little… stuck.
