A Kid’s View – Caravan Parks

Now that we’ve been on the road for nearly 6 months, I thought I would do an assessment of my favourite (and least favourite) Caravan parks that we’ve stayed at.

Favourite Camp spots

In no particular order…

Ingenia Big 4 Coconut Cairns

Cairns coconut is an Ingenia holiday park and is great for kids. It has 2 swimming pools, 1 kids spa and 1 adult spa, 2 water slides plus a water park, it has a playground, a games room, pool tables, 2 jumping pillows one big and one small, mini golf and an outdoor cinema! We liked it because of its pool and its park. The staff are very nice and they have nice amenities. The milk bar is a bit pricy though.

Big 4 Adventure Airlie Beach

Airlie beach big 4 Whitsundays resort is a Big4 and is great for kids as well. We liked it because of its pool and tennis courts. Personally, I didn’t like the amenities and the playground wasn’t the best either. They had 2 jumping pillows, a playground, an outdoor cinema, a pool, 15 water slides, mini-golf and tennis courts and also a petting zoo.

Little Roper Stock Camp, Mataranka

Little roper is a family-owned business. In the morning Des (the owner) makes scones and tea. Then you can hold the reptiles. After that you have the day to yourself playing on the hay bales and playing with the cattle and chickens or the pigs. In the afternoon you can book to get dinner and to get bread. By the time evening comes around, you can feed the squirrel gliders mealworms, crickets and fruit. Don’t freak out but the crickets and mealworms are alive!

Lithgow Caravan Park

Lithgow holiday park is a family-owned business and they are really nice. Nothing for kids to do unless you get on the owners good side and then he lets you feed the goats and the horse! You can feed them apples, berries and acorns.

NRMA Big 4 Yeppoon

Yeppoon is a NRMA and Big4 collaboration. It has a great playground and nice amenities. It also has a waterslide. A couple of nights we watched the movies on the outdoor cinema screen.

Big 4 Maroochydore

Big4 Maroochydore has a really nice atmosphere and they lit a fire every afternoon and they roasted marshmallows for the kids! Every night the adults would talk to each other and drink wine or beer.

Worst Holiday Park

Most of the parks we stayed in were either good or average, but there was one that gets a “Worst Caravan Park” rating:

Katherine Holiday Park

This is by far the worst. in the first 5 mins, we got shouted at twice! It was so bad that we left a didn’t even stay. We lost 65 dollars and we couldn’t stay with a friend. Worst holiday park ever!
