Gippsland

Unfortunately, due to our extended time in Tasmania, this meant that we had to rush through the last part of our trip in order to get home – our tenants had left our house already 6 weeks ago and another major storm was coming. We wanted to get through the area before more flooding cut off the roads!

The most beautiful landscape was about 2 hours east of Melbourne in West Gippsland – the undulating hills going every which way and covered in cows.

There were lots of cute, tourist little towns peppering the area. This little church in one of them was so caught my eye:

Mallacoota

We stopped in Mallacoota in the very southeastern corner of mainland Australia. This area and town were devastated by bushfires in January 2020 so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but everything had grown back and you would never know that there were fires there.

Mallacoota was a nice little town and I wish I had more time to explore the area and go on some walks and four-wheel drive trips.

South Durras

The next night we spent in South Durras. I really loved this caravan park and want to go back and spend more time there one day. It has a beautiful beach and friendly kangaroos everywhere!

We then drove the remaining 2 hours home and completed our lap of Australia!
