Teddy Travels: India (Part 1)

Hi! I’m Teddy, and I am in India. This is my first time in India. When we were on the plane to India I was very excited.

Delhi

First, we went to Delhi which was a bit overwhelming because we came from Thailand where it was calm. So in Delhi, there were way more cars, more honking and more people, way more people!!! Our house was very dirty and the beds were hard like you’re sleeping on a hard table. When we arrived, I wondered if all the beds were going to be that hard. The view from the apartment was nice it was a large field with trees and there were a few kids playing there. It was a large room and it was pretty nice if it wasn’t so dirty.

Agra

Next, we went to Agra by a boring old 4 hour car ride. I was sitting there wondering why they haven’t invited teleporting machines yet. 😴🧐

We arrived after what felt like a 324 hour car ride! Our place in Agra was a homestay, so of course like Indians they gave us a drink and a weird opening ceremony thing. They put white cream in a dot shape on our foreheads. Then, they did the same thing again but with a red cream. Next, they added uncooked rice 🤨 and threw flowers on us. After the ceremony, we went and played with the kids. They had three kids: one 11 one 9 and the other 2. We had lunch there because we were starving and didn’t eat after the car ride. We had a nice Indian meal that consisted of Dahl, Paneer, Curd (runny yogurt), a veggie dish and roti. We also had this disgusting mango-seasoned fruit thing. The only weird thing about eating was that the homestay parents were staring at us 😳 so I felt like I had to try everything. Then our bed was hard like always. There were holes in the floor all around the house connecting it to the family’s house down below. When we were sleeping the first night we found out that there was a window next to our bed that had no blind so we got K’s sarong and put it up like a blind.

The next morning we went to visit the Taj Mahal the queue was so long but it was worth it.

Then we spent Holi with the kids. Holi is about throwing paint on other people and after noon we spray each other with water canons and water balloons. Holi was fun, but soon enough we had to go.

We hopped in the car to Jaipur with C having Delhi belly. I spent another 4 hours in the car again feeling like I am going to die, but this time I started counting cows because there are a lot of cows around. I told K, M, C and R to look out for cows but soon enough it was a game then we added rules that they have to just be walking around on the road with no rope on their necks. The total cow count was 458 cows ( that is a lot of cows ).

Jaipur

We arrived in Jaipur. Luckily, we had a nice and big apartment because we spent the first few days on the toilet and puking with Delhi belly. The next day we tried going out but K felt sick so we went back home.

Ranthambore

Then we left for a 4 hour car trip and counted the cows again this time there were 637 and 27 camels. In Sawai Madhopur ( Ranthambore) we did two tiger safaris one in the evening and one in the morning. We saw one tiger in the afternoon one. We left the day after the morning one.

Bundi

This car trip was 3 hours and we saw 309 cows and 1 camel.

We arrived in Bundi and had issues finding our house. But when we found it, it was nice. We had two rooms: one for the parents and one for us, C, K and me. It was very nice and the food was good but again the beds were hard. Then we went to see the fort and it was too expensive for us, so instead, we walked around in the hot sun. 🥵

Then we hopped in the car again for another 4 hour car trip but this time there were so many cows we saw 756 cows but no camels. We arrived in Udaipur and we had issues finding it again but when we came in we saw stairs. 😩 Me personally, I don’t like stairs. But it is clean and near many markets.
