After the Atherton Tablelands, we headed up north towards the Daintree. We stayed on the coast just south of the river in Wonga Beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We went on a river cruise to spot saltwater crocodiles. And boy, we weren’t disappointed! I think we saw 9 crocs on that cruise!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cape Tribulation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We took the ferry across the river the next day and drove up to Cape Tribulation. The only place in the world where two world heritage listed places meet: The Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also took a nice walk along a boardwalk through the mangroves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had to stop at this amazing ice cream place that I think I’ve stopped at every time I’ve been here. It’s incredible – they grow all of their own exotic fruit on an orchard and then they create ice creams from the various fruits. Every day they do a tasting bowl of different flavours which of course we had to try.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 Wheel Drive Track to Wujul Wujul Falls<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When we got to the end of the road at Cape Tribulation, we decided to continue on a 4WD track to a remote aboriginal village that had a waterfall. The road had several river crossings and some very steep up and down gradients (approx 30 degrees). There were some spectacular views from the tops of the mountains and the track ended at the town itself and then the waterfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
