Hello! Holi is a festival of colors celebrated in India and Indians all over the world. It lasts for two days and consists of many different events. First, the night before Holi, people light massive bonfires consisting mostly of cow poo \ud83d\udca9. They light the bonfires around eleven at night, needless to say, we didn’t stay up that late to see some fires. The next morning we woke up early and went downstairs with the kids from our home stay (“who?” I hear you ask. Check out our Agra<\/a> blog!). We then met some people from the town who promptly smeared our faces with different colored powders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, my sister and I ran up to the roof with the other kids and spent the next few hours throwing powder and shooting each other with water guns and water balloons \ud83c\udf88.

I also tried my hand at painting with the powders. You heap a little pile of powder on the floor and flick it across the ground. This makes very pretty artwork (it looked more impressive in real life I promise)!<\/p>\n\n\n

I had a great day eating snacks, painting, throwing powder at my friends and shooting water at people. It was so much fun! We were very lucky that we were at a home stay with kids because otherwise I think Holi would not have been as fun. In the afternoon and for a few days afterward you could see people walking down the street covered from head to toe in colorful powder. That powder is not easy to wash off and I had it stuck in my hair and hands for at least a week afterward.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
