Finally it stopped raining just in time for us to have a wonderful (and sunny) 10 days in Brisbane!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, before I get into Brisbane, I thought I’d give you a visual of our trip so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Brisbane, we’ll just continue up the coast to the tip (if we can get there…).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Caravan Park<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We stayed at the Brisbane Holiday Village and it was great! It had some sort of Mayan or Incan theme going on… (no idea why!?) But it had a mini-golf course (free), tennis courts, tons of playing fields, and lots of space on each site. They even had a restaurant, shop and bar. But the best part was the pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Bank<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On our first weekend, we met up with some friends and took a lovely walk from Kangaroo Point to South Bank. South Bank has a massive, free waterpark along the river – even with a fake beach and full swimming pool. The kids loved it! Unfortunately, I didn’t do my research beforehand so I didn’t bring swimsuits for the kids, but they just went in with their clothes on and had a blast! After they played for a couple of hours, we got an ice cream and started walking back. There was a band playing so we sat for a while and listened. It was a wonderful day and so good to see friends we haven’t seen in a few years \ud83d\ude42 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mount Coot-tha<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We took a drive up to Mount Coot-tha one day to go to the big botanical garden and the lookout. The botanical garden was amazing! We walked around for more than two hours and then realised that we’d only seen about a quarter of it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were tons of water dragon lizards, bush turkeys and ibises walking around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was also a beautiful japanese garden and turtles in several of the ponds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A little further up the road from the botanical garden is the lookout point at the top of the mountain. There were great views over the city and surrounding mountains from there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CBD (Downtown)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One day during our second weekend, we drove to Kangaroo point and took the free ferry across the river to the CBD. We walked all around and up and down the shopping streets, and then around the city botanical gardens (which was hosting several weddings). The city botanical gardens are small but beautiful with many old fig (and other) trees. Every time I come to Brisbane I make sure I take a walk around these gardens. We also walked along the river from the ferry station. Brisbane offers bikes and electric scooters for rent everywhere, which unfortunately means walking around is kind of annoying because you have to constantly look behind you to ensure that you don’t get run over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Fabulous Dinner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To complete our visit to Brisbane, our friends invited us over to dinner. They cooked amazing food, gave us French Champagne and the kids all swam in the pool. It was such a great night that we didn’t leave until after midnight! What a fantastic finish to a great visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
