From Mildura, we headed south to the town of Horsham. We chose to come here so that we could 1. fix the gas issue on our fridge and 2. explore the Grampians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Horsham<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We stayed at a caravan park right on the Wimmera river and 2 blocks from the centre of town. We were upgraded to a riverfront site. This was the view from our van:<\/p>\n\n\n

I really liked this town – it had all the shops you could want (including Aldi liquor!) and had well-maintained walking and bike paths that go for kilometres along the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the first day, my daughter and I took a long walk along both sides of the river from the main bridge on one side down to the weir outside of town. There were tons of birds along the way, and also ducks that nest in the trees!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grampians National Park<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I was really excited to explore this national park – I hadn’t been here before but have heard so many people rave about it. Now I know why – it was beautiful!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We explored the middle section of the park from the Wartook Valley in the west to Halls Gap in the east. Along the way, we explored Zumsteins picnic area and then MacKenzie Falls which actually had several waterfalls in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next stop was the nearby Lake Wartook and dam where the water for the falls originates from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stopped for lunch at Reid lookout which had a great view over the lake on one side and a valley on the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We then drove up the Mt. Dangerous road to the top of the mountain Boroka lookout which was amazing!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We travelled on to the area known as Wonderland and we did a walk around the Grand Canyon. (We decided not to do the famous Pinnacle walk because our legs were already really tired from the big walk the day before and all the steps at MacKenzie falls…)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
